"I am pleased to offer my strongest endorsement of Mr. Isaac Brooks as a conductor and music educator. In my capacity as President of the Southeastern Kentucky Music Association and Director of Choirs at Corbin High School, I have had the opportunity to work with and observe many conductors at various stages of their careers. Isaac stands out for his exceptional musicianship, thoughtful leadership, and deep commitment to musical excellence.

Isaac approaches conducting with a clear artistic vision balanced by a collaborative and student-centered rehearsal style. His rehearsal technique is efficient, purposeful, and grounded in strong pedagogical principles, allowing ensembles to grow musically while remaining engaged and motivated. He communicates musical intent with clarity and confidence, and his conducting gestures are expressive, precise, and responsive to the ensemble. Beyond the podium, Isaac demonstrates professionalism, preparation, and a genuine respect for the musicians he leads—qualities that foster trust and elevate performance outcomes.

I have no hesitation in recommending Isaac for professional conducting and music education opportunities. He is a gifted musician, an effective leader, and an individual whose work reflects both artistic integrity and educational excellence. Any ensemble or institution would benefit greatly from his involvement."

Nick Hibbard - Director of Choirs at Corbin High School (Ky) and President of Southeastern Kentucky Music Association

"I had the pleasure of having Prof. Isaac Brooks as a teacher at Asbury University for 3 years. Under his teaching, I was able to grow as a singer, conductor, choral director, and leader. He took the time to invest in me and helped me to figure out how I could improve in these areas to better serve my future students.

One of my favorite things that I would hear Prof. Brooks say is “We may be excellent at something, but we can always strive to do better”. This strive for excellence has resonated with me in several areas of my life, including music, academics, leadership roles, and serving others.

Prof. Brooks has been an honest teacher as long as I have known him. Under his instruction, he has told me what I needed to hear, even when I did not want to hear it. This consistent honesty helped me to identify what specific areas of music I needed to work on, and I believe this helped my musical development during my time at Asbury University.

Overall, Prof. Isaac Brooks has been an amazing teacher that I credit a lot of my development in the areas of choral directing and conducting to. As I am in the process of applying for choral directing positions within Kentucky’s public schools, I feel incredibly prepared and ready to teach thanks to how much Prof. Brooks has invested in me over the last 3 years."

"Prof. Brooks has been my choir conductor for the past three years, and I can say with confidence and gratitude that his leadership has shaped my understanding of vocal technique, effective conducting patterns, harmonic balance, precise dynamic control, articulate diction styles, how to be an impactful teacher, and the power of making music. He is an authoritative leader who uses firm but warm teaching methods to build an encouraging, focused, and mutually respectful learning environment. I know that I can always come to him to receive helpful advice about conducting, teaching, singing, or leading. He has not only grown a program of hard-working, high-achieving choir singers, but also a community of kind, considerate, and passionate people. As an aspiring music educator, I am so blessed to have learned from Prof. Brooks, as he has consistently inspired me, challenged me, and poured into me throughout my college experience."
